Hospital’s relaxing new patient garden opens in courtyard
ByThe Courier Reporter
Patients at Queen Margaret Hospital have a new place to relax.
A new outdoor space, housing a therapeutic garden and relaxation area, has been created in an existing internal courtyard area at the hospital.
It was as part of an upgrade to wards five, six and seven that an entrance was formed.
The space has been transformed thanks to staff, volunteers and the Friends of Queen Margaret Hospital.
Patients, families and departments and volunteer Stewart Docherty have helped. It’s been supported by NHS Fife’s endowment fund.
It now boasts garden structures, all donated by The Friends, with an astroturf area for bowling.
The hospital’s development project lead Andrea Wilson said the transformation was “a wonderful example” of the whole hospital community coming together to enhance patients’ experience.
There are plans to develop the therapeutic side of the space to support patients in their recovery.
