A Perth man who was caught slumped at the wheel of a car after taking tramadol has been jailed for nearly five months.
Brian Hughes, 32, of Double Dykes Caravan Park, Inveralmond Industrial Estate, admitted that on December 2 at Rannoch Road he drove while unfit through drink or drugs, without insurance and also when not in possession of a licence.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode told the court that police discovered the accused slumped in the front driver’s seat of his vehicle. They reported that he was revving the engine loudly in an attempt to drive the vehicle and had glazed eyes, slurred speech and had trouble staying awake.
Hughes failed a preliminary impairment test.
Sheriff Fiona Tait sentenced Hughes to 140 days in prison and disqualified him from driving for three years.
