Pupils turn techno for annual Fife schools challenge

Pupils from Mary Erskine and Stewarts Melville Jr School, Fettes College Prep School, Balmerino Primary School and Falkland Primary School, with Dr Carslaw, Dan Barlow and Carol Tyler.
One hundred pupils representing 25 schools from Fife and beyond took part in the 19th annual Techno Challenge hosted by St Leonards in St Andrews, puzzling over science, maths, ICT and literary related tasks.
The event provided a real test of all-round skills for the children as they constructed rockets and tackled a series of maths puzzles.
They also required literary knowledge and used their ICT skills to create a film trailer.
The team from Mary Erskine and Stewart’s Melville Jr School was the winner of the large school section, with Fettes College Prep School runners-up.
Balmerino Primary won the small schools section, with Falkland Primary in second place.
