Fife SNP leader stands down following election to Westminster
ByThe Courier Reporter
The SNP’s group leader on Fife Council has stepped down after being elected to Westminster.
Peter Grant, who was elected as MP for Glenrothes and Central Fife last week, described the chance to lead the party in Fife for the past eight years as “a huge privilege”.
He will continue to work as a local councillor for Glenrothes West and Kinglassie, but has confirmed that his salary will be donated to local good causes.
The announcement has been made ahead of the local party’s AGM, which takes place on Monday.
The appointment of a new leader will then be confirmed next Thursday at a full meeting of Fife Council.
