Police in Glenrothes have appealed to the public to help them tackle speeding drivers.
Community Sergeant Kenny Greig said his officers are responding to what was one of the major issues highlighted by residents following community engagement meetings.
“We currently deploy speed detection equipment throughout the area,” said Sergeant Greig.
“This is essential in increasing road safety and awareness in our communities.
“If you and other members of your community think that speeding traffic has a dangerous or anti-social impact in your neighbourhood then contact your local community officer.”
Following meetings with the public, Sgt Greig said that speeding was highlighted by residents as one of the main issues that affected the quality of life in Glenrothes.
Last weekend saw police in the town host a weekend of action against speeding, resulting in the detection of a number of offenders.
“Over the weekend my officers have been working hard to prevent offences and detect those people who continue to flaunt the law,” he added.
“A number of drivers have been warned regarding their driving and some have been issued with fixed penalty tickets of £100 and three penalty points.
“I would urge motorists to watch their speed and contribute to keeping Glenrothes a safe place to work, live and visit.”
