Journey times across the Firth of Forth will double this weekend for railway passengers as engineering works get under way. No trains will run between Inverkeithing and Haymarket on Saturday or Sunday while essential works are carried out by Network Rail. Passengers have been warned to check their journey before they travel and ensure they leave extra time. Replacement buses will run between Edinburgh Waverley and Dalgety Bay to connect with services to and from Dundee and the Fife routes. The bus will take around an hour, more than double the usual journey time of 26 minutes. Buses will also run between Haymarket and Dalmeny, stopping at South Gyle, and between Inverkeithing and North Queensferry. ScotRail services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen will be diverted via Stirling and Perth and will not call at stations between Haymarket and Dundee. Passengers travelling to Inverness will go by bus from Edinburgh to Perth. CrossCountry trains will end at Edinburgh and passengers will be taken to Dundee by bus.
