A 12-year-old boy has been charged with threatening an older pupil with a knife outside a Dundee school.
The incident, which also involved a 14-year-old, is said to have taken place during lunch on Thursday afternoon outside Harris Academy.
Police attended and carried out an investigation and a report has now been submitted to the Youth Justice Assessor.
A Dundee City Council spokesman said it would be inappropriate to comment on a police matter.
However, Stewart Hunter, SNP councillor and education committee convener, said he had full confidence in the processes in place in the school.
The Strathmartine member told The Courier: “I am unable to comment on the incident as it is a police matter.
“I have confidence that the school will deal with this in the appropriate way and that they have been through the proper procedures with the students involved.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the matter and a report submitted to the Youth Justice Assessor.”
