A man who chased an A&E doctor around a hospital car park has been jailed.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Christopher Harrison, 24, awoke in accident and emergency at Ninewells Hospital and became aggressive towards staff.
He got out of bed and began flailing his arms around before chasing a consultant out of an exit, into the car park and around the ambulance area.
Police there tried to grab Harrison, but he lashed out at them and was then arrested.
The court heard Harrison had been released from jail in Inverness the previous day and was making his way home to Lincolnshire when he stopped overnight in Dundee.
Depute fiscal Laura Bruce said: “At 2.20pm on April 22, Harrison was taken to A&E.
“He awoke at 6.15pm and, when he became aware of his surroundings, he immediately began shouting.
“He got out of bed and started walking around the room, flailing his arms and shouting ‘get out of my way’.”
Consultant Andrew Paterson arrived and Harrison shouted: “Who are you looking at?”
Two police officers managed to stop Harrison and he kicked one on the leg, and repeatedly tried to bite the officer.
He was taken to police headquarters where he spat on a second officer.
Harrison, of no fixed abode, admitted one charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on April 22 at Ninewells Hospital. He further admitted two charges of police assault, at the same location, and police headquarters, on the same date.
He was returned to prison to serve the remaining 56 days of his licence, and thereafter jailed for 12 months.
