UPDATE: Mystery over future of Kirkcaldy’s Strathearn Hotel continues
ByThe Courier Reporter
The sudden closure of a historic Kirkcaldy hotel sparked rumours it may not reopen.
Suggestions were made on social media that Strathearn Hotel had closed for good and wedding customers might lose their deposits.
Despite this, the hotel wrote on its Facebook page: “We are closed only to carry out a refurbishment and will be reopening in a few weeks.”
However, a source, who has close friends booked to marry at the Strathearn later this year, said the Facebook statement was simply a smokescreen.
“My friends were told by the brewers who own the hotel that a member of staff had phoned police as she suspected he (one of the leaseholders) was trying to do a runner,” the source added.
