The volunteer crew launched at around 9pm on Thursday when the wind dropped and he was unable to re-fly his kite in the shelter of Kinghorn Bay. The crew found the man had made it ashore east of the Kinghorn Harbour holiday park, below the Fife Coastal Path. A crew member swam the 60 metres ashore to assist him back to the lifeboat, and he was returned to Pettycur.
