PICTURED: Dundee Spider-Ned’s rooftop stand-off after assault
ByGraeme Ogston
A ‘Spider-Ned’ teenager sparked a two-hour rooftop stand-off with riot police after viciously attacking his ex-girlfriend, a court has heard.
Connor McLeod who was dubbed Spider-Ned after climbing down the side of a Dundee multi-storey to flee police in 2011 threw a tile and debris at officers after scaling a house in a quiet Lochee cul-de-sac.
Police cornered the 19-year-old as he hid in a bush in a garden in Cobden Court minutes after he repeatedly punched and kicked the woman on the head and body and threw her against a parked car.
But McLeod, who neighbours said scaled the wall “like Spider-Man”, climbed onto the roof, leading to the street being sealed off while trained negotiators attempted to talk him down.
McLeod, now 20, a prisoner at Perth, admitted assaulting Ashley Deans to her injury on March 7 at Burnside Court.
He also admitted committing a breach of the peace and culpably and recklessly climbing onto the roof of a property in Cobden Court on the same date.
McLeod pled guilty to two further charges of police assault.
Mcleod will return to Dundee Sheriff Court for sentencing next month.
