A 37-year-old man has been charged with more than 30 break-ins across north east Fife.
Police said the man was detained on Friday following a robust investigation lasting 16 months.
He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The break-ins were reported at various commercial premises in the St Andrews and Anstruther areas between January 2014 and April this year.
All were investigated as part of Operation RAC, which was launched in December 2013 and is still operating across Fife.
Detective Sergeant Alec Raeside said: “Following a robust investigation into a series of break-ins to business premises throughout St Andrews and Anstruther over the past year, we have now arrested a male and he will face numerous charges when he appears in court.”
He added: “Housebreaking remains a priority for Police Scotland as we recognise the impact it has on people’s lives and businesses within the local community.
“Operation RAC is our response to this type of crime and through this we ensure that every effort is made to apprehend those responsible.
“The public can help us with our efforts to reduce housebreaking throughout Fife by ensuring they have appropriate security in place at their homes and buildings.”
