Crowds descended on a small Perthshire village this weekend for one of Scotland’s oldest highland games competitions.
The Blackford event, now in its 146th year, was blessed with sunshine and blue skies.
Hundreds of athletes from all over Britain took part in Saturday’s show, which combined traditional favourites like tossing the caber and tug o’ war with modern cycle races.

The games took place at the same park which has hosted the event since 1870. The site is an area which is loaned to the community by the owner, on condition that the Highland games are held there each summer.
New for this year was a series of races involving local children. Two primaries Muthill and Blackford battled it out for the inaugural Primary Schools Cup.
This year’s chieftain was local amateur weatherman Windy Wilson and the show was started with a parade around the village.
The procession reached the showground by 1pm when the event was official opened by the 2015 Blackford Gala queen.
Elsewhere, athletes from as far afield as Kent and Inverness competed in a variety of track and field events.
A team from Elgin won the tug o’ war, sponsored by Tullibardine Distillery.
Side attractions including a funfair with a variety of stalls and a show of classic motorcycles.
