Minecraft helps young minds craft a vision for Dundee’s future

World-class architectural design made way for the compelling block-built world of Minecraft to offer an alternative future view of Dundee’s cityscape.
Children across Dundee have set their imaginations racing to recreate the look of the waterfront through the popular game.
The central waterfront is in the midst of a £1 billion transformation, the focal point of which will be Kengo Kuma’s stunning V&A Museum of Design.
But for the past few months, primary 6 and 7 pupils have been working on a project led by the University of Dundee and Dundee City Council to showcase their visions using the expansive canvas of the phenomenally popular game.
Simultaneously, pupils from nine secondary schools across the city have been taking part in a similar project, Youth Camp, funded by TAYplan and the University.
Using Minecraft-equipped Xbox and Playstation 3 consoles connected to whiteboards in classrooms, groups have been reimagining, designing and building their designs.
