Travellers have set up an illicit camp in Dundee having moved from another site in the city.
Eight caravans have occupied a site on Stannergate, beyond the train tracks next to Dundee Road West.
When approached, one of the Travellers said they arrived at the area of private land early on Thursday morning where they found a gate to the site already open.
The Traveller, who did not wish to be named, said she was not aware of being issued any notice to leave the site.
She also said the group had moved from an area behind the Dundee Ice Arena.
The Traveller said: “We moved here on Thursday morning. It’s been quiet and we’re pretty out of the way from any housing.
“We came here because it’s quiet and we’re out the way.
“I’ll also say we are not the Travellers who leave places in a state after we move on, we take the rubbish away in the vans to the nearest dump.
“We’ve not been given a notice to leave I don’t know anything about that.”
A local resident said she believed the Travellers were not authorised to be on the site.
She said: “The gate they used to get in has always been shut. It’s left me quite concerned and I hope they get moved on soon.
“There’s a perfectly good site in Tealing lying empty.”
