The man was unable to get back into his kayak having accidentally entered the water off Carlingheugh Bay. A request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard just after 11.30am. The all-weather lifeboat RNLB Inchcape and inshore lifeboat Robert Fergusson were quickly launched. Upon arriving at the scene, the volunteer RNLI crew pulled the man from the water and returned him, along with his kayak, to the lifeboat station. He was treated for the mild effects of cold.
