A body found during the search for a Dundee pensioner has been positively identified as missing John Symington, and his cause of death has been ruled as natural causes.
The remains were discovered following a large-scale search last week for Mr Symington.
The pensioner, from Broughty Ferry, vanished after getting off a coach in a village on the outskirts of York.
A massive manhunt was launched for the 84-year-old, believed to be on a coach trip with his wife.
North Yorkshire Police called in a helicopter and specialist officers to scour the area around Warthill.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire police said: “The post-mortem revealed that he died from natural causes, therefore our involvement in the incident has now ended.
“Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death which is being dealt with by the coroner.”
The body of a man was located in a wooded area about 400 metres from the Breezy Knees Nurseries, the place where Mr Symington was last seen.
A neighbour in Broughty Ferry said that he and his wife Helen were: “A lovely couple.”
