The Courier can reveal the near half a million pound maintenance bill for controversial Angus Council offices at the centre of a secret Forfar ‘superpub’ deal.
Through figures obtained under Freedom of Information it has emerged that £147,000 has been spent on upgrading 5-7 The Cross in the past five years.
And the FOI data has also detailed a projected £417,000 maintenance bill which was presented to councillors as a key reason in favour of selling the landmark listed property to pub giant JD Wetherspoon for £350,000-£50,000 less than the company offered the authority out of the blue last summer,
The huge forecast upkeep figure includes a £175,000 gas heating upgrade plan, despite £10,000 being spent on 25 storage heaters only last year.
