TV celebrities lead tributes after death of Scots presenter Michelle Watt

Tributes have been paid to Scots TV presenter Michelle Watt following her death at the age of 38.

The former 60 Minute Makeover host – daughter of boxing champion Jim Watt – was found dead at her home in Airth, near Falkirk, on Wednesday.

She had also worked on programmes including Scottish dating show Club Cupid and STV’s The Hour.

Daytime TV presenter Lorraine Kelly paid tribute to her today on Twitter, writing: “Absolutely shocked to hear of death of Michelle Watt. Lovely woman and a fantastic mum. Thoughts with her family and everyone who loved her.”

Comedian and radio DJ Des Clarke, who hosted the dating show with her, tweeted: “So sad to hear about Michelle Watt. What a lovely person, a pleasure to know and work with. Just tragic. My heart goes out to her family.”

Celebrity interior designers Colin and Justin also paid tribute on Twitter, saying: “Saddened beyond belief to hear of the passing of an old friend. RIP Michelle Watt. Taken at 38. Our thoughts are with Michelle’s family xx.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Forth Valley were called to an address around 6.15pm on Wednesday 24th June where the body of a 38-year-old woman was found.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Her boxer father became world champion in the lightweight division in 1979 and has since worked as a commentator, currently with Sky Sports.
