Detectives have released CCTV images of four people they want to trace after a “vicious and unprovoked” attack outside a pub.
A 34-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman suffered serious facial injuries after being assaulted by a gang in Laverockbank Road near to the Starbank Inn in the Newhaven area of Edinburgh at about 1am on May 31.
Police have now issued images of four people they are keen to speak to in connection with their investigation into the incident.
The first is a white man in his 30s, of medium build, around 5ft 10ins, with a bald or shaved head and a heart tattoo on his right arm. The second man is white, in his 30s, about 5ft 11ins with a heavy build and short dark hair.
The third man is also white, in his 40s, of slim build and wearing a light shirt while the woman is described as white, of medium build and around 5ft 6ins. She has long back hair and was wearing a black jacket.
Detective Sergeant Robert Richardson said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which has left the victims with significant injuries.
“The people within the CCTV footage are of interest to our investigation and anyone who recognises them is asked to come forward.
“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to these incidents should also contact police immediately.”
