Dunfermline are weighing up moves for former winger Joe Cardle, ex-Hibernian striker Ross Caldwell, and one-time Hamilton Accies keeper David Hutton.
The Pars fielded the trio, as well as former Ross County youngster Scott Ferris, as trialists in Saturday’s 3-0 friendly win over East Fife.
Hutton, a free agent after not being offered a new deal by Ayr United, played the full 90 minutes in Methil, while Cardle and Caldwell were given the final half-hour to impress and build their fitness.
Cardle is without a club after being freed by Ross County and joined his old club for training last week.
Caldwell is seeking a new club after being released by Morton at the end of the season.
The pair combined when Caldwell crossed for Cardle to net the Pars’ third goal in the 76th minute.
Cardle, who is understood to have other options, later said on Twitter: “Was great to get a run out delighted to get a goal and pull on the famous black and white jersey again!”
New Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston has so far added Ben Richards-Everton, Callum Fordyce, Jason Talbot and Michael Paton to his threadbare squad and is likely to again run the rule over his trialists against Berwick Rangers tonight.
He said: “Obviously we are interested in a few of the boys who were playing. The boys who came on in the second half and a few of the young lads will be playing on Monday.
“Goalkeeper is a position we need to fill, and we need to bring in somebody as quickly as possible.
“We are talking to other people as well, so we see how it goes.”
Meanwhile, Raith Rovers’ game with Brechin City was washed out by the heavy rain on Saturday.
Rovers take on Hearts on Tuesday, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
