A young Dundee girl, who has been given just weeks to live, will head off on a dream holiday after a fundraising campaign raised more than £4,000.
Five-year-old Michaela Hunter is battling a rare form of cancer for the second time, after first being diagnosed when she was just two.
The family was given the heartbreaking news in June that she may not see out August.
Michaela is being treated by doctors in a desperate bid to save her life, with the family looking at alternative treatments for Michaela in Spain as a last resort.
After meeting the family and hearing of their plight, charity champion Charlie Kean pledged to help raise funds to pay for an overseas trip for Michaela and her parents Carol and David.
They will fly off to sunny Benidorm for 10 days on Saturday after £4,280 was raised by the community.
Carol said: “I’m really thankful for the money being raised and we’re all really looking forward to the trip.”
Charlie added: “The response from the people of Dundee has been out of this world. People came up to me on the street and gave me a few pounds.
“Folk came out of pubs with change when I walked by. An 87-year-old came all the way down to my office and put money in the bucket.
“On top of the money raised, Tesco on South Road held a supermarket sweep for the family, where they were given a basket and told to pick out all the things they needed.”
