‘Everyone has just jumped on the bandwagon’ T in the Park fan says criticism was over the top

Criticisms of this year’s T in the Park do not reflect most festival-goers’ experiences, it has been claimed.

Amy Black, from Dundee said complaints about the organisation of this year’s event – the first to be held at Strathallan following the event’s move from Balado for safety reasons – have been overstated.

She contacted us, saying: “I have been going to T in the Park from when I was nine years old and would like you to hear my side of the story … I feel it’s getting really negative views when it shouldn’t be!”

Stereophonics fan Amy said this year’s event equalled earlier festivals.

“It was brilliant and I had a great weekend but was so deflated seeing all the criticisms,” she said.

“I think people are maybe expecting too much- we had all those problems before when it was at Balado.

“I think because there was doubt about whether it would go ahead everyone has just jumped on the bandwagon.”

She added: “I’ve been going for 11 years and I’m only 20, so my first festival was when I was nine.

“It’s the crowd who makes it. I was down the front for Kasabian and somebody was pushing me but other people in the crowd so it and told them to stop.”

However, she said organisers DF Concerts should consider reducing the capacity when the festival returns next year.

“I think they could maybe reduce the capacity to around 60,000 as it was like a human traffic jam everywhere,” she said.
