Police searching for a missing Fife man have issued a description of a woman they would like to speak to.
Wayne (Bagsy) Fleming, 39, from Glenrothes, was reported missing two weeks ago but has not been in touch with his family since early March.
However, officers say a man matching his description was seen in Leven town centre on Saturday July 4 with a young woman.
She is said to be around 25 years old with long blonde hair and was wearing a short denim skirt or shorts and white and pink Nike Air Max trainers.
She was carrying a Lidl shopping bag.
The pair are believed to have been in the town centre between 4 and 6pm.
Police said mention of the possible witness had emerged from officers’ ongoing investigations which include door-to-door inquiries in Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Leven, posters of the missing man issued in shops, doctors’ surgeries and other outlets and speaking to Wayne’s friends.
The information follows an earlier sighting of Wayne near Kirkcaldy Town House in the middle of June.
Inspector Derek Paxton, who is leading the inquiry, said: “We are keen to speak to this woman to find out if she has seen Wayne or knows where he might be.
“I’d like to emphasise she is not in any kind of trouble.
“This is just one avenue we are following up in our efforts to trace Wayne and reunite him with his family.”
He added: “We would encourage anyone who might have information to contact us on 101 or via the Missing People charity at www.missingpeople.org.uk.”
