Angus sheriff warns pub boss he is “on the verge” of a jail term after police assault

A pub manager has been told he remains on the brink of jail after failing to comply with a court order imposed in the wake of a police assault.
Alistair Peacock appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar to admit a breach of probation and failure to fully comply with a CPO.
It was imposed in the wake of an incident last year in Montrose in which he attempted to headbutt a sergeant.
Peacock, 32, of Glenclova Terrace, Forfar, will return to court on August 13 for sentencing after Sheriff Murray said the accused’s job was keeping him out of remand.
Nick Markowski, defending, said his client said the CPO had “gone a bit off track”. He told the court that Peacock has since obtained employment as a night shift manager at Jolly’s bar in Broughty Ferry.
“The positives are that he has got himself into employment and been of good behaviour, but he is placing himself in a precarious position with the breach,” said Mr Markowski.
Sheriff Murray told the accused: “You are right on the verge of going through the door to custody.”
