The first Monday of Fife’s fair fortnight was marked with a bumper turnout at Burntisland Highland Games.
Former residents of the town were treated to the yearly exiles’ reception in the Burgh Chambers, with the furthest flung attendees flying all the way from South Africa to be there.
The parade, led by Burntisland and District Pipe Band and the town’s summer king and queen Stewart Paton and Renee Davies, then made its way to the games arena.Click here for a full photo galleryThe 363rd such event to take part on Burntisland Links, there was a record entry for many categories, including the annual race up the Binn Hill which looms over the town.
Games secretary Sarah Curle said the most popular events remained hammer throwing and tossing the caber.
There were more entries for Highland dancing this year and the children’s race also attracted a large number of youngsters.
The games followed a national pipe band championship in Burntisland on Saturday when spectators were treated to the spectacle of massed pipes and drums along the High Street.
