Court to lead investigation into prisoner’s sudden death
ByThe Courier Reporter
A court inquest into a Perth prisoner’s sudden death will be held later this year.
John Perry was being held on remand for drugs offences when he died in January 2013.
It is understood the 24-year-old died at Perth Royal Infirmary, days after trying to take his own life.
The procurator fiscal’s office revealed a fatal accident inquiry will be held to determine how Mr Perry died.
A preliminary hearing will be held at Perth Sheriff Court on October 6 and a full inquiry takes place on November 4.
By coincidence, Mr Perry died on the same day as another inmate at Glenochil jail. Dennis Cannon, 55, was serving a six year sentence for attempted murder at the time.
