Crail Festival contest to find the king of the sand castles
ByThe Courier Reporter
Buckets and spades were out in force in Crail for the village’s annual sand castle competition.
Young and old worked together to build mini fortresses and create works of art on the harbour beach.
The contest formed part of the Crail Festival programme.
Yesterday’s events also included an organ recital by Henry Fairs, of St Andrews University and Birmingham Conservatoire, in the parish church.
A preview of his Edinburgh Fringe show, Scotland: 45 Events That Shaped a Nation, was given by stand-up comedian Vladimir McTavish.
The festival continues today with a ceramic workshop for adults and a rock pool guddle with marine biologist Bernie McConnell.
Abba fans were treated to some of their favourite hits in a show by tribute act Swede Dreamz.
The programme finale will be a sell-out acoustic performance by Barbara Dickson and her pianist Nick Holland, including some of her hit records and an exploration of the songs of Gerry Rafferty.
