A scam alert has been issued to Alyth flood victims.
People forced from their homes and businesses when the town was swamped in devastating downpours have now been told they could be targeted by insurance fraudsters.
Trading standards officers have urged residents to beware of smooth-talking salesmen who could try to persuade them to sign bogus policy contracts.
A council bulletin states: “You are strongly advised only to deal with your insurance company’s loss adjuster.”
The Perthshire community is slowly getting back on its feet after last month’s flooding left parts of the town under several feet of water, causing millions of pounds worth of damage.
A drop-in session for affected residents and shop owners has been held in the town hall.
