Thieves armed with axe hunted by police following Perthshire shop raid
ByThe Courier Reporter
Police are searching for the thieves who used an axe to smash their way into a Perthshire shop.
The men targeted the Bridgeton Store in Almondbank in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The break-in was reported at 6am when staff arrived to open up. It is thought the crooks struck at around 3am.
It is not clear what was taken in the raid, although locals said no money was kept on the premises overnight. The shop was closed on Saturday while officers examined the scene.
Police said they were carrying out door-to-door inquiries and asked for any witnesses to call the force on 101 or freephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
