A fresh search for missing US tourist Susan McLean has drawn a blank.

A party of eight people spent most of Saturday scouring an area around Aberfeldy, where the 61-year-old vanished three months ago.

The search was led by Susan’s long-time friend Lorna VanderZanden who jetted in from America to reignite the inquiry last month.

She confirmed that after four hours of intensive searching on Saturday, there was still no trace of her friend.

“We will keep searching sections of forest, heading westward and on to Urlar Farm if need be,” she said. “Thank you to the outstanding Scots who joined the search. I am touched by the support of the people here.”

Four dogs were used in the search, which covered the Loch Hoil Trail.

Susan, her husband Donald and their two sons had spent the day of May 17 touring the sights of Perthshire before returning to their lodge at Aberfeldy’s Moness Resort for tea. Mr McLean later revealed that his wife had gone off to “cool off” following a row that evening.

She was spotted on CCTV at 7.45pm.

Her family raised the alarm several hours later when she failed to return home.

Susan is described as 5ft 8in and was last seen wearing a black or grey raincoat, beige trousers and white shoes.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.
