Brechin boss Darren Dods looking to pick side up after Dunfermline defeat

Brechin player/manager Darren Dods was left reeling last week as his side suffered a crushing home defeat at the hands of Dunfermline.

The Angus outfit were hit for six at the Glebe by the Pars, a result and performance that left Dods who was suspended feeling incredibly frustrated on the touchline.

Now, he will look to pick his players up for the tricky visit to Ayr United, who have already beaten City this season in the League Cup.

Dods said: “We got off to a bad start last week. We sat off them and individual mistakes cost us dear.

“Before we knew it, we were four goals down.

“We should have kept it much tighter and as a defender it was incredibly frustrating watching from the sidelines.

“The result was very disappointing especially considering it was our first league game at home.

“We have to put things right at Ayr and if we can keep it tight at the back, then Andy Jackson and Robert Thomson will cause them problems up front.

“Ayr were beaten 3-0 by Albion Rovers last week and no disrespect but I didn’t see that result coming.

“Ayr did have three key players suspended and they will be back for our game.

“We have played them already so we know how tough it will be but we are up for the challenge.”

Dods and Jonathan Tiffoney return from suspension and injury respectively however Brechin have received a big blow with the news that Paul McLean has suffered a stomach strain and will be out for four to five weeks while Dene Shields is also injured.

Dods is still looking to add to his squad and is hopeful of bringing one or two players in on loan next week.
