A woman watching a children’s football match headbutted another mum after a heavy tackle on her son.
More than 50 supporters looked on as Royal Mail worker Lisa Paterson, from Arbroath, squared up to the woman before assaulting her.
The match was abandoned after Paterson’s partner also ran on to the pitch and threatened another supporter.
Despite the number of witnesses, 29-year-old Paterson, of Condor Drive, pleaded not guilty to the charge at Forfar Justice of the Peace court.
However, she was found guilty of assaulting and injuring her victim after a trial and fined £250.
The incident happened at an under-10s match between Arbroath Lads Club and Arbroath Community Sports Club at the town’s Hercules Den playing fields in February last year.
Trouble flared after Paterson’s son, who played for Arbroath Lads, was fouled. Paterson squared up to her victim before ramming her forehead into her face “to her injury”.
Paterson’s partner Alexander Hutton, 32, also ran on to the pitch and threatened to headbutt another player’s grandfather.
He was found guilty of behaviour likely to cause fear or alarm.
He approached the man in an aggressive manner and repeatedly shouted and threatened him.
Hutton also remonstrated with the referee and opposition parents and supporters. Sentence on Hutton was deferred for six months.
Paterson’s victim has declined to comment on the matter.
