A predator who abused two underage girls as their mother was dying was convicted of a string of sex crime charges.
George Johnston continued to molest the victims after her death and even offered one teenager a sex toy.
One victim told the High Court in Edinburgh that as her mother’s illness worsened she was bed bound.
She said the first time Johnston molested her she assumed she had “maybe imagined it”. She said she did not like his behaviour but said nothing as she was scared.
Now aged 20, she said the abuse finally ended after she told him it was disgusting.
“I said it was wrong and it was disgusting and I hated it,” she said. She said Johnston had told her that she must have enjoyed it.
Johnston, 48, of Colinton Place, Dundee, denied sexually abusing the girls beginning when one was aged seven and the other nine.
But he was found guilty of assault, indecency, indecent assault and sexual assault of the victims. He was convicted of attempting to rape one of the girls at a house in Fife. He was also convicted of assaulting a boy from the age of seven.
Defence solicitor advocate Iain Paterson said: “Given the jury’s verdict, a custodial sentence of some length will be imposed.”
Lady Clark of Calton deferred sentence, remanded him in custody and placed him on the sex offenders register.
