A top academic at Dundee University has been honoured with an award established by one of his heroes.
Professor Mike Ferguson said it was “a great honour” to receive the 2016 Alice and CC Wang Award in Molecular Parasitology from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Ching Chung “CC” Wang is a pioneer of molecular parasitology and has collaborated with his wife Alice during his distinguished career.
They established the award to celebrate the achievements of researchers in the field.
“This prize is of particular significance to me,” said Mr Ferguson, who is regius professor of life sciences at the university and the fifth recipient of the award.
“Professor Wang is an outstanding pioneer of molecular parasitology and it is a great honour to be selected by a distinguished panel of peers for an award endowed by, and bearing the names of, he and his wife.”
