Fife Flyers have signed defenceman Nicholas Rioux.
Canadian Rioux, 28, joins the Flyers from AHL side Iowa Wild.
He spent last season with both the Quad City Mallards in the ECHL and Wild.
The solid and consistent D-man ended the season with four goals and 19 assists for 23 points from 69 games.
This will be Rioux’s first season playing in Britain following stints in the AHL and ECHL/CHL.
“I’m excited to come to Scotland and get the season under way,” he said.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the organisation and the fans. I’m ready to get on the ice and win some games!”
Head coach Todd Dutiaume said: “After having a number of conversations with Nick it was apparent that he was going to be a great fit for us.
“Adding him to our existing D-core I now feel we have one of our strongest and most versatile back ends since we joined the league.
“His experience and consistent performances will provide us with much more depth and dependability back there. We are looking forward to getting this group together.”
Meanwhile Dundee Stars head coach Marc LeFebvre has named his captain and three alternate captains for the new campaign.
Riley Wetmore will lead the side and be backed by assistant captains Bobby Chaumont, Doug Clarkson and Jason Grays.
The Stars travel to Murrayfield on Wednesday toplay Edinburgh in the first of three pre-season challenge games.
