Former Rangers chief executive Charles Green has been detained by police.
He arrived at Livingston police station in West Lothian earlier on Tuesday, where he is understood to have been speaking to officers looking into events during his time at the club.
The businessman took control at the Ibrox club in 2012 after completing a purchase of Rangers’ assets and business after it went into administration and liquidation earlier that year.
Mr Green stepped down as chief executive officer of the club the following year after it was alleged he had links with former owner Craig Whyte – a claim he denied.
As he arrived at the police station, Green told BBC Scotland: “I’ve been invited to attend an interview with Police Scotland. I have done that on a number of occasions in the past.”
Asked why officers wanted to speak to him, Green replied: “Well, one of the difficulties with today is my legal people had asked Police Scotland to provide us information that we’re likely to be questioned on and they wouldn’t provide that, so I’m at a loss really.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said later: “A 62-year-old man has been detained.”
A 50-year-old man, understood to be former Rangers co-administrator David Whitehouse, has also been detained.
Whyte has previously appeared in court charged with fraud following an investigation into the purchase of Rangers Football Club in 2011.
He and others who were charged with fraudulent activity linked to the sale were released on bail last year.
