An Angus man charged across a busy town centre brandishing a folding saw with a seven-inch blade in a row over a gardening job.
Danny Low shouted “Look at what I’ve got for you Frankie” towards a man he had previously fallen out with, before turning on his heels and heading away from the complainer.
But the Montrose High Street incident was witnessed by police stopped at traffic lights nearby and when they arrested 41-year-old Low he told them: “I know I’ve done wrong and I hope I get some help now.”
Low, of Glenlethnot Place, Montrose, will return to court next month to be sentenced following the preparation of reports after admitting an indictment alleging the possession of an offensive weapon and behaving in a threatening manner towards a man while brandishing the saw in the incident on September 30 last year.
Depute fiscal Joanne Smith told the court the accused, who has convictions for breach of the peace, theft and breach of bail, had previously been involved in a dispute with the 55-year-old complainer over gardening work carried out for his mother.
On September 30 the complainer was walking on High Street and saw the accused cycling.
“He (Low) went into his backpack, retrieved a folding saw and took it out,” said the fiscal.
“The accused got about half way across the road before turning back.”
Both men were shouting and when Low was arrested he told officers: “He shouldn’t have been calling me names.”
Defence solicitor Julie Young reserved mitigation until the accused’s return to court on October 1.
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio ordered forfeiture of the folding saw.
