A murder inquiry is under way following the death of a teenager.
Police received a report of an 18-year-old man being injured in North British Road, Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, just after midnight.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie where he later died.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Detectives are treating the death as murder.
CCTV images from in and around the area will be studied to establish how the man was injured.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Boyd, from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “This inquiry is at an early stage but a young man has lost his life and we need to piece together the circumstances of what happened.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch, or if you know or have heard anything regarding this crime, then please do pass that information on to officers.”
