Three days of events to welcome in 2014 are under way in Edinburgh.
A torchlight procession through the centre of Edinburgh tonight will kick off the city’s official Hogmanay celebrations.
Around 7,500 torchbearers and a crowd of 20,000 people are expected to wind along The Mound and Princes Street towards Calton Hill, led by Shetland’s Up Helly Aa’ Vikings and the massed pipes and drums.
Fireworks and a sound and light display are set to add to the visual spectacle of the annual event.
Overall, tens of thousands of people from around the world are expected to flock to the capital for the various events to see in the New Year.

The city’s celebrations also mark the start of Homecoming Scotland 2014, a year-long programme of events across the country running alongside the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup.
Around 80,000 people are expected in Edinburgh city centre for the famous Hogmanay street party.
Pet Shop Boys will headline a Concert in the Gardens, while the street party will have music on three stages. Traditional Scottish music will be playing at The Keilidh, an outdoor dance event.
Transport Minister Keith Brown said people can really look forward to this year’s festivities.
He said: “The recent storms that hit Scotland over the last few days may have caused disruption to the Christmas festivities but the latest information from the Met Office suggests normal December weather for Hogmanay which means people can celebrate the New Year across Scotland as planned.
“I would encourage everyone to check their local event arrangements and local travel arrangements on Tuesday.
“We are expecting the weather to be usual for a December in Scotland so I would urge everyone to wrap up warm and get out there and make the most of the celebration parties being hosted across the country. Hogmanay is a time to reflect on the year gone by and look forward to the year to come.”
