Angus can lead the way in Scotland’s response to the growing Middle East refugee crisis, a minister has claimed. The local authority has been called upon to make housing available for a small number of the first refugees expected to arrive in Scotland. Rev Malcolm Rooney spoke following the Scottish Government’s announcement that it would make £1 million available for a task force on the issue. But he said there must be “grass roots” support for families coming to Scotland and has started a petition for Angus Council to lead the way.
