Brechin boss Darren Dods is still looking to strengthen his striking options after losing out on Chris Templeman to Angus neighbours Montrose.
The Glebe gaffer has seen two front men depart in recent weeks with Isaac Layne’s loan being cut short by parent club Alloa while what was supposed to be Dene Shields last game for City at the weekend ended in disappointment when the match against Stenhousemuir was abandoned at half-time because of snow.
Dods had hoped to bring in his former Forfar team-mate Templeman after he parted company with the Loons late last week.
However, he was beaten to the punch by Links Park boss Paul Hegarty with the veteran striker opting to join the Gable Endies.
Dods said: “Last weekend was disappointing as it was Dene’s last match for us.
“This is the second time this has happened as Isaac Layne was due to play against Forfar before going back to Alloa but the derby was postponed and he missed out.
“We are still looking to strengthen, trying to bring in another striker and perhaps a wide man.
“I am working hard behind the scenes and Chris was one I would have liked to have brought to the club.
“He is someone I know well and he was a success when he was last at Brechin.
“Unfortunately, though, Paul Hegarty at Montrose contacted him just before me and Chris has joined them.”
