A man has admitted threatening to kidnap and rape a health worker.
Robert Garrick bombarded the woman with more than 60 text and voicemail messages declaring his “undying love” for her.
However, some messages were of an entirely more sinister tone, including one where he threatened to kidnap, rape and kill her, and also to kill her colleagues.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson told Perth Sheriff Court Garrick contacted the woman on her work phone.
He said: “She took her work phone home on November 11. She checked it at around 10.15pm before she went to bed.
“There were around 40 messages on it some text and some voicemail all from Mr Garrick. She did not read them at that time.
“Overnight she received 20 messages from Mr Garrick. She then read the messages and listened to the voicemail.
“In them he (Garrick) declares his undying love for her and says that he misses her.
“In others he calls her a cow. The most worrying one was where he said he would kidnap her and have sex with her forcibly and would kill others.”
Solicitor Linda Clark, defending, said concern was raised over Garrick’s mental health.
She said: “He presents as a completely different person today.
“The concern expressed by the staff was that Mr Garrick had suffered an acute psychotic episode.”
She added that the 35-year-old had had problems with so-called legal highs and asked Sheriff Lindsay Foulis to place him on a curfew, which would help restrict his access to the substances.
However Sheriff Foulis opted to refuse bail and remanded Garrick in custody to allow for the preparation of reports.
Garrick, of Gowrie Street, Perth, admitted that on November 11 and 12 this year at a Perthshire hospital, he repeatedly sent offensive text and voice messages to the woman where he threatened to kidnap, kill and rape her, and to kill others.
Garrick will appear again on Wednesday December 16.
