A man has admitted stabbing a woman in a random attack shortly after being released from prison. Robbie Lowther had been talking to his victim outside the Tayport Arms on January 2. The 23-year-old told her he had recently spent time in jail. The victim was left with an injury to her liver as a result of the attack on the town’s Craig Road later that evening. She managed to walk home before being taken to Ninewells Hospital by her mother for treatment. The attack left her with permanent scarring and she requires follow-up checks on how her liver is healing. The High Court in Edinburgh heard Lowther had been drinking heavily and had taken drugs before the incident. He admitted assaulting the woman to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of her life. He has been remanded in custody and is expected to be sentenced next month.
