An army battalion has marked its return from a six-month tour of Afghanistan with a city parade.
Soldiers from 1st Battalion Scots Guards marched through Inverness to thank people for their support during their deployment in the Upper Gereshk Valley in Helmand.
The battalion has been based in Catterick, North Yorkshire, since 2008. It retains links with Scotland historically and through current personnel.
The soldiers marched from Glebe Street along High Street with Inverness provost Alex Graham taking a salute at the Town House.
Commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Rob Howieson said: “The Guardsmen are very proud of their work and they are humbled to be able to parade in front of the people of Inverness.”
The soldiers will receive the Freedom of Edinburgh on Friday after parading up the Royal Mile in the city.
