Dundee Stars claimed a win double over misfiring Edinburgh Capitals last night courtesy of a 4-1 road win.

Meanwhile, Fife Flyers had a 4-0 win over Coventry Blaze, after having been pipped 6-5 in Coventry on Saturday.

Stars, who beat the Murrayfield club 4-1 at Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday, have now won all three of their league visits to the capital.

Home-grown hit-man John Dolan broke the deadlock after 10 minutes, with skipper Riley Wetmore and Jason Gray assisting.

But Capitals were level two minutes later when in-form Trevor Gerling scored, assisted by Garrett Milan.

With Capitals being outshot almost two-to-one it was only a matter of time before Stars claimed more goals.

Former Edinburgh player Curtis Leinweber scored the go-ahead goal after 43 minutes, with assistant coach Bobby Chaumont and Wetmore involved in the build-up.

Newcomer Scott Brannon opened his account by scoring his first goal for his new club only 27 seconds later, with Mikael Lidhammar and Kevin Hart assisting.

Lidhammar turned from provider to scorer with number four, Justin Faryna and Leinweber setting up the chance.

Stars had ended a six-game losing streak on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Edinburgh Capitals.

Trevor Gerling netted in three minutes, but Doug Clarkson levelled on the power play nine minutes later.

In the 42nd minute skipper Riley Wetmore made it 2-1 with Bobby Chaumont making it 3-1 seven minutes later, and Lou Dickenson wrapped up the scoring with five minutes remaining.

Earlier Coventry, looking for a weekend win double after their 6-5 victory in the SkyDome on Saturday, had the worst possible start.

Shane Stockton struck after only 23 seconds with Ryan Dingle and Michael Dorr involved in the move.

The visitors, who travelled minus coach Chuck Weber, with James Pease substituting, went further behind in 28 minutes when Justin Fox scored, with Nico Sacchetti assisting.

Dingle did not take long to make it 3-0 with a goal, set up by Philippe Paquet, little more than two minutes later.

Kyle Haines scored the fourth on the power play with 90 seconds left to make it a joy night for Flyers and associate player/coach Danny Stewart in his 600th Elite League start.

In Coventry on Saturday, Todd Dutiaume’s side led 2-1 after 12 minutes thanks to goals from Kyle Horne and Patrick Cullen.

However, Blaze scored four times to take a 5-2 lead before Nico Sacchetti pulled one back for Fife after 33 minutes.

Blaze added a sixth, and a late double from Shayne Stockton brought Flyers closer, but it was not enough.

In Glasgow, Braehead Clan suffered a second weekend defeat to Manchester Storm following Saturday’s 4-1 road reverse, with former Fife Flyers star Derek Roehl scoring the game-winner after 17 minutes to make it six straight victories.

North Ayr Wild scored four goals, three of them on the power play, in the first 20 minutes as they beat Dundee Tigers 7-4 in Ayrshire. Paul Guilcher, Ross Bree, John Robertson and Scott Marr were on target for Tigers.
