A “prankster” has put washing up liquid in the City Square fountains. The incident, thought to have happened over Wednesday night, saw the fountains become engulfed in foam. The council’s city centre manager, Sarah Craig, has slammed the people behind the prank, which has happened previously. Writing on Twitter, she described the incident as “criminal damage”. She added: “(It) may seem a harmless prank but (it) costs hundreds of pounds to clear the filters.” The foamy fountains were captured by employment lawyer John Boyle who described the culprits as “pranksters” who made a “clean getaway”. A similar incident happened almost exactly 12 months ago, leaving city centre residents and commuters bemused.
