Bryan Adams mega-fan Clair Barnett admits she was “physically shaking” when she heard the star will perform in her home town.
Organisers of the Montrose Music Festival announced on Tuesday that the rocker will play at the East Links on August 7 next year.
The news was warmly received by music lovers across Angus and beyond but few have as much reason to celebrate as Clair.
The 34-year-old mother-of-two has spent thousands following the Canadian singer across the UK and Europe and even has his signature tattooed across her stomach.
Clair fell in love with the singer’s music in 1996 when she bought his album 18 til I Die and couldn’t stop playing the track The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You.
She quickly bought up his back catalogue and went to see him play live in Aberdeen and has now seen him perform 30 times.
Clair got his 1987 song title Into the Fire tattooed on her stomach and asked Adams to sign it when she met him after a Rotterdam concert in 2001. She got the signature inked, which was described as “awesome” by Adams the next time they met.
Clair mother to Becca, six, and Emily, four said: “I’ve loved him for so long and to have him play in Montrose is just out of this world and a dream come true. I always dreamed that one day he would play in Montrose but I still can’t quite believe it’s happening.”
Clair, who works at Mercantile Golf Club and Stracathro Hospital, added: “Some of my friends think it’s strange that I’m such a big fan of Bryan Adams but I’m so excited that they will finally be able to see what all the fuss is about when he plays next year.”
