Police are investigating after a juggler was attacked in Dundee city centre.
Luke Davies, 18, was practising on the grassy area in front of the Steeple Church, in Nethergate, when he was approached by two men in their mid to late twenties.
After initially striking up a seemingly friendly conversation, one became aggressive and Luke was attacked when he tried to leave.
Luke, from Tayport, ran a short distance but the man caught up and swung a punch at him connecting with the juggler’s chin.
The thug continued to try to hit Luke, but he held him off until the culprit’s friend dragged him away.
Luke the reigning British young juggler of the year previously featured in The Courier was not badly injured but he was left appalled at being attacked in broad daylight, while families shopped nearby.
He said: “They were really drunk and they started chatting to me. I didn’t think anything of it.
“But one of them started to get aggressive so I decided to leave. Then he swung at me, so I ran.
“The guy was running after me, but he fell and scraped the back of his right forearm.
“But he got up and then punched me on the chin. I managed to hold him off and shouted on his friend.”
Luke got away and took a bus back home before contacting police.
Officers told him they would, hopefully, catch the culprit using CCTV from nearby businesses.
Luke said: “I’m angry a guy that age would attack someone so much younger than them.
“There were families doing late-night shopping and I worried they could have been attacked too.”
Police Scotland confirmed officers were investigating the incident, which happened at 6.30pm on Thursday.
The culprit is described as being in his mid-twenties, wearing dark grey jogging bottoms and a pale jumper.
