An amateur historian is heading for the big screen thanks to his documenting of memorials in Dundee and St Andrews.
Darren Eyers was invited to be an extra in Tommy’s Honour, the film being made about Old Tom Morris by Jason Connery. His 3D computerised model of the young Tom Morris memorial in the cemetery at St Andrews Cathedral was used by movie makers to make a scene prop.
Darren, 43, of Dundee, who has also recorded the gravestones of Dundee’s Howff Cemetery using a technique called photogrammetry, asked to go on set to see the end result.
He said: “They said they could go one better and that I could be an extra.”
Darren took part in filming in St Andrews with Scots actor Peter Mullan.
